Eric Downey has extensive work experience in the field of geotechnical engineering and business development. Eric started their career in 1991 at Environmental Scientifics Group, where they worked on ground investigation projects for a proposed nuclear repository and various infrastructure projects. Eric then moved to ThyssenKrupp as an Engineering Geologist. In 1998, they joined Murray Rix as a CQA Consultant. In 2000, they worked as a Geotechnical Engineer at Pell Frischmann before joining Mouchel as a Senior Engineering Geologist. At Mouchel, they led geo-environmental input on brownfield land projects and developed effective remediation strategies. In 2010, they served as the Technical Director at CJ Associates and then as the Operations Manager at Geotechnical Engineering. From 2011 to 2020, they worked as a Senior Engineering Geologist and later as the Associate Director of Business Development at Structural Soils, where they managed ground investigation works within the Rail Sector and played a significant role in the business development of the company. In 2020, they took on the role of Associate Director of Business Development, primarily responsible for Structural Soils' business development and overseeing their Technical Services Division. Additionally, Eric has been actively involved in various leadership roles at organizations such as Kingswood Tri Club and British Drilling Association.
Eric Downey graduated from Kingston University in 1990 with a BSc (Hons) degree in Geology. Prior to that, no information was provided regarding their education. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained the "Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme" from CITB in October 2019, the "Safe Supervision of Geotechnical Sites" from IOSH in July 2011, and the "MSE's Academy of Money" certification from The Open University in January 2023.
