Stuart Doyle

Associate Principal at STUDIOS Architecture

“All of my thinking is very place-oriented and context-specific. It goes back to where I grew up in Oregon and the rich natural setting there—you can pull a lot of inspiration from it. That’s what really drives me: being engaged in a place and understanding it.”

Whether he’s working close to home or across the globe, for Stuart, design is all about nurturing the distinctive contexts and environments. As a child, he was already reimagining the houses in his neighborhood—how they could better fit into their sites, and enhance the day to day lives of the people within them—and he still has the drafting table that his dad built for him at age 12. With his love for drawing and building, architecture was a natural path.

Stuart’s work ranges from large-scale urban commercial and mixed-use developments to workplace interiors. He is a member of STUDIOS’ Climate Committee, which is dedicated to exploring emerging materials, techniques, and technologies to reduce carbon emissions and improve building performance.
