Jack McDonald is a seasoned campaigner and policy director based in Taranaki and Te Whakatōhea. They served as a Research and Policy Advisor for the Green Party of Aotearoa New Zealand from 2014 to 2018, where they also held roles as a Māori Political and Media Advisor, and a Senior Executive Assistant to prominent MPs. After a brief stint as an Investment Adviser at Te Mātāwai in 2018, Jack worked as a Māori Advocacy Adviser at the NZ Drug Foundation until 2019, and then as a Senior Strategy & Influence Adviser for Te Runanga o Ngati Ruanui Trust until 2021. Jack currently works as a Communications and Campaigns Advisor for the New Zealand Council of Trade Unions and a Columnist for Stuff, while previously serving as the Kaiārahi (Policy Director) for Te Pāti Māori from 2020 to 2024. Jack completed their high school education at Kapiti College.
