Fraser Nicoll

Production Journalist at STV

Fraser Nicoll has a diverse work experience in journalism, starting with their role as a Freelance Football Reporter for JPIMedia in 2018. During this time, they covered various SPFL matches for local papers, including The Falkirk Herald, The Montrose Review, The Arbroath Herald, The Ellon Times, and The Forfar Dispatch.

In 2016, Fraser worked as a School Sports Reporter for Johnston Press, where they wrote weekly articles on sports at their school for The Mearns Leader and The Kincardineshire Observer newspapers. Fraser also had the opportunity to conduct an exclusive interview with professional footballer John Souttar, which was featured both in print and online.

Fraser then joined DC Thomson in 2019 as a Broadcast Journalist, where they remained until 2021. During this time, they gained valuable experience in broadcasting and reporting.

In 2021, Fraser joined STV Group plc as a Production Journalist, a role they continue to hold. Finally, in 2022, they returned to STV Group plc in the same position.

Fraser Nicoll attended Mearns Academy from 2012 to 2018, however, no specific degree or field of study is mentioned for this period. In 2018, they enrolled at Glasgow Caledonian University and pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Multimedia Journalism, which they completed in 2022. Additionally, Fraser obtained several certifications in Teeline Shorthand from the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ). Fraser achieved speeds of 60wpm, 80wpm, 100wpm, and 110wpm in shorthand, with the respective years of 2019 and 2021.
