Ben D.

Ben D. has work experience in multiple companies and roles. In 2018, they interned as a Test Engineer at StarLeaf, where they focused on integrating 3rd party software with the StarLeaf cloud. Ben was responsible for testing all 3rd party integrations and developing test plans.

In 2020, Ben D. interned as a Software Engineer at StarLeaf again, this time in the Cloud R&D Team. Ben worked on internal monitoring and tooling, including creating a Grafana container for displaying dashboards with calling statistics and resource usage.

Also in 2020, Ben D. served as a Technologies Officer at The Durham Union Society, where they were responsible for managing technology-related tasks. Ben later became the Deputy Technologies Officer before leaving in 2022.

In 2021, Ben D. interned as a Software Engineer at Pexip, where they worked on modernizing and expanding a service for file uploads and issue tracking. Ben migrated file storage to Google Cloud Storage, removed reliance on NGINX, and implemented built-in expiry for download links.

In 2022, Ben D. joined Pexip as a Software Engineer and worked on migrating an internal support service to Kubernetes and rewriting a core media layout engine in Rust. Ben also enforced expected types within a pre-existing media layout engine.

In 2023, Ben D. started working as a Backend Engineer at Suade Labs.

Ben D. began their education in 2011 at King Edward VI Five Ways School, where they completed their GCSE degree in 2016. Ben then continued their studies at the same school and obtained their A-Level degree in 2018.

In 2019, Ben D. enrolled at Durham University, where they pursued a BSc in Mathematics and Computer Science. Ben successfully completed their degree in 2022.

In addition to their formal education, Ben D. obtained a certification in "Developing Secure Software" from The Linux Foundation in December 2022.
