Qian Zhong

Qian Zhong has extensive work experience in various roles within the telecommunications industry. They currently work at Google as a Subsea Quality Lead starting from 2023. Prior to this, Qian worked at SubCom since 2006, holding positions such as Managing Director for Advanced Materials and Asia Pacific Sales. They also worked as the Director of System Engineering from 2006 to 2009. Before SubCom, Qian worked at Tyco Telecommunications, now known as SubCom, as the Director of Cable Design and Advanced Technology Research. At the beginning of their career, Qian worked at AT&T Bell Laboratories and Tyco Submarine Systems as a Distinguished Member of Technical Staff and Member of Technical Staff from 1992 to 2000.

Qian Zhong holds a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, which they obtained from 1985 to 1991. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate studies in Materials Science and Engineering at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, earning a B.S. degree from 1981 to 1985. Later, they pursued an MBA in Management at NYU Stern School of Business from 2005 to 2006.
