Valerie Bowman

Valerie Bowman is an experienced maritime professional currently serving as a Second Mate at SubCom since December 2020, after previously holding the position of Third Mate. Valerie has a strong background in leadership, having served as the Company Executive Officer at the United States Merchant Marine Academy, where responsibilities included managing a company of approximately 170 midshipmen. With previous experience as a Deck Cadet at SubCom, Military Sealift Command, and Matson, Inc., Valerie has gained extensive skills in navigation, voyage planning, safety inspections, and cargo operations. Valerie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Maritime Logistics and Security from the United States Merchant Marine Academy, completed in 2020.
