Yunlu Xu

Yunlu Xu has a diverse work experience. They started their career as a Summer Research Intern at China Shipbuilding Industry Co., Ltd. in 2010. They later worked as a Research Assistant at the National Engineering Laboratory for Next Generation Internet Access System, where they designed and developed the next generation Fiber-LED mine lamp.

In 2008, Yunlu Xu became a Research Assistant at the Wuhan National Laboratory for Optoelectronics, where they conducted research on laser cavity mode simulation, tunable dual-wavelength laser design, and led a team in developing a distributed Brillouin fiber sensor.

From 2011 to 2016, Yunlu Xu worked at The Institute for Research in Electronics and Applied Physics (IREAP) as a Graduate Teaching Assistant and later as a Graduate Research Assistant. Their responsibilities included nanophotonic design, modeling, simulation, fabrication, and test, as well as software and hardware design and testing.

Yunlu Xu joined TE Connectivity in 2016 as a Software System Engineer, where they contributed to the design, development, and testing of the enhanced Line Monitoring System (eLMS) for undersea cable systems. They continued in this role as a Software System Engineer II until 2018.

In 2019, Yunlu Xu joined SubCom as a Software System Engineer II and subsequently held positions as a Senior S/W System Engineer, Senior Member Of Technical Staff, and Distinguished Member Of Technical Staff. Their responsibilities at SubCom included project management, software system architecture, software and firmware development, web service design and development, and quality assurance.

Currently, Yunlu Xu serves as the Director of Software Development at SubCom, leading the software development team.

Yunlu Xu received a Bachelor's degree in EE from Huazhong University of Science and Technology in 2011. Later, from 2011 to 2016, they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Maryland. In 2016, Yunlu Xu acquired certification in "Querying with Transact-SQL" from edX.
