Joel Hames

Joel Hames has an extensive work experience in product management and leadership roles in various companies. Joel currently serves as the Chief Product Officer at Subject, where they focus on bridging the gap between design language and education delivery. In their previous role as Chief Product Officer at Paper, they led the vision, strategy, and execution of an equitable and impactful educational support system. Prior to that, Joel held the position of VP Product at PowerSchool Group LLC, where they led the unification and acceleration of educational solutions. Joel also served as VP Product at Schoology and VP Product Strategy at PowerSchool Group LLC. Joel has a background in technology and education, having worked as the VP Product at Sungard K-12 Education and Director of Product Management at SunGard K-12. Before their career in the technology industry, Joel held a senior leadership role in instructional technology at Tamalpais Union High School District. Joel also served as a board member at Southern Marin Fire District. Overall, Joel Hames has a wealth of experience in product management, leadership, and educational technology.

Joel Hames completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Social Behavior at UC Irvine from 1991 to 1995. Joel then pursued their education further by attaining a Masters of Education in Educational Psychology at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, studying from 2010 to 2011. In between these two periods, from 2002 to 2003, Joel attended the University of Redlands to focus on Interactive Telecommunications, although they did not obtain a specific degree during this time.
