Joseph Willauer has had a diverse and expansive career in the economic development and fly fishing industries. Joseph began their career in 2007 as an intern at AHBL Inc. Joseph then moved on to become the Head Fly Fishing Guide at The Stonefly Inn in 2008, where they were selected to be a Pro Staff member for industry leader Winston Fly Rods, Allen Fly Fishing Reels and an ambassador for The Greenfish Movement. In 2013, they became the Food and Agriculture Development Center Director at Headwaters RC&D, assisting value added food and agriculture producers in Southwest Montana with all of their business needs. In 2016, they were appointed as the Executive Director for Headwaters RC&D, a non-profit economic development corporation from Butte, Montana. In 2017, they took on the role of Executive Director at Butte Local Development Corporation, a lead economic development organization for Butte-Silver Bow. Finally, in 2022, they became the RFP Manager at Submittable.

Joseph Willauer obtained a Master's degree in Urban and Regional Planning from Eastern Washington University between 2007 and 2009. Joseph also obtained a Bachelor's degree in Geography from Central Washington University between 2002 and 2006. Additionally, they are certified as an Economic Development Finance Professional from the National Development Council.
