Stef Mates has extensive work experience in editing, writing, design, and other related fields. From 2006 to 2008, they worked as an Editor at Clement Communications Inc. and a Correspondent/Copyeditor at The Abington Journal. From 2008 to 2009, they were a Content Librarian I and Senior Documentation Specialist at TMG Health, and a Content Editor at Lyrical Press Inc. In 2013, they began working at Penn Foster as an Instructional Designer, Graphic Designer, and Senior Content Manager. In 2016, they worked at Nike as a Technical Writer/Instructional Designer (ETW) and Training Materials Developer (ETW). In 2017, they worked as an eCom Product Copy Proofreader at Thread. Since 2019, they have been employed at SuccessKit as a Director of Editing, Writing, and Design, Writer/Editor, and Graphic Designer.

Stef Mates obtained a Master of Science (MS) in Library Science from PennWest Clarion between 2009 and 2011. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in English Language and Literature/Letters from West Chester University from 2002 to 2006. Stef also attended Abington Heights High School from 1998 to 2002.
