John Knight has a diverse work experience spanning several roles and companies. John started their career at James Wyllie & Sons in 1979 as a Cattle Specialist. John then joined DALGETY AGRICULTURE LIMITED in 1982, where they worked as a Raw Material Buyer & Trading Manager until 1993. From 1993 to 1997, they served as the Regional Raw Material Manager at the same company. In 1997, John became the Director of Operations at Roper Foods Ltd, a position they held until 2002. John then joined SugaRich in 2002 as the Compliance & Technical Director, where they continue to work.
John Knight attended High School of Dundee from 1969 to 1972. John then went on to attend Helsby Grammar School from 1972 to 1976. After completing their schooling, they enrolled in Newcastle University from 1976 to 1979, where they earned a Bachelor of Applied Science - BASc degree in Animal Nutrition.

SugaRich source downgraded and surplus foods from food manufacturers and retailers and process them into high energy biscuit meals, also known as food product blends, for sale to the animal feed industry. The products produced by SugaRich form one of many ingredients that go into the manufacture of these animal feeds. The raw materials for the process include cakes, chocolates, sweets, bread, breakfast cereals, crisps, biscuits, wet products such as bread dough and apple pommace, wheat feed and other similar products. These products may be: out of date; surplus to requirements; products from failed marketing campaigns; or out of specification, typically because they are either over or undercooked. SugaRich has extensive experience managing food waste streams from food manufacturers and retailers. During 2011, SugaRich handled over 500,000 tonnes from factories across the UK. This produced in the region of 400,000 tonnes of finished product which was sold into the UK feed industry. SugaRich lead the development of the alternative feed market in the UK, making it the natural choice on high performance livestock farms and consequently food producers looking to maximise returns. With this vast reach SugaRich can achieve the highest return for downgraded food products of any company in the market.
