Sejin Kim

Sejin Kim is a Jr. Software Engineer at Suite Studios. They previously worked as a Software Engineering Fellow at Turing School of Software & Design from June 2020 to January 2021, a Back End Engineering Student at Turing School of Software & Design from April 2019 to November 2019, and a Contract Software Engineer at ThinkAlpha from January 2021 to September 2021.

During their time as a Software Engineering Fellow, they researched and integrated a notification system that notifies hundreds of users via Slack, email, and in-app notifications. They also participated in feature planning and system design discussions, improved accessibility scores with the Lighthouse extension by updating views to use ARIA attributes, wrote more robust model tests to boost test coverage scores, utilized MVP feedback to make UI/UX improvements and enhancements, learned about project management of software - how to decide what to work on and when, worked within prioritization and constraints in a limited resource team, collaborated with multiple team members while working on a single application especially in regards to Pull Requests and Reviews, and communicated when problem solving and documented both questions and completed work.

As a Back End Engineering Student, they worked on various projects including a Rails API backend for an e-commerce site, an interactive command line interface game, and a CRUD web application. They also gained experience with Ruby on Rails, ActiveRecord, RSpec, JavaScript, React.js, HTML, CSS, and SQL.

As a Contract Software Engineer at ThinkAlpha, they worked on a wide range of projects including developing features for an existing web application, building out a new web application from scratch, and creating an internal tool to help with data analysis. They also gained experience with Ruby on Rails, ActiveRecord, RSpec, JavaScript, React.js, HTML, CSS, SQL, and Python.

Sejin Kim earned a certification from Amazon Web Services (AWS) in AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner.
