Mona Sheikh has held various roles in the technology industry since 2006. Mona began as a PhD student in Electrical & Computer Engineering at Rice University, where they wrote a thesis on Genomic Detection of Bacteria using Compressive Sensing, inventing a DNA sensing platform for bacterial detection. In 2009, they held a Venture Fellow role at DFJ Mercury (now Mercury Fund). From 2011 to 2012, they were a Postdoctoral Associate at Whitehead Institute, where they implemented an image processing pipeline for facial feature detection in a pedigree study, and analyzed data for causative mutation discovery for a rare genetic disorder.
