Thomas Rota has worked in the software engineering and development industry since 1995. Thomas began their career at eShop, Inc. as a Production Assistant and Store Builder. In 1996, they moved to Microsoft as a Script Developer and worked on v1.0 of MSN Plaza. After the launch of the Plaza, they moved to the Commerce Server development team, coding "best practice" sample sites and writing web based data management tools. In 1999, they joined iStartVentures, LLC as a Senior Software Development Engineer, where they worked to ensure the timely release of v1.0 software. After the internet bubble burst, they worked with friends and past colleagues at Ubique Data, LLC as a Senior Software Development Engineer, creating market research software with IIS, Windows and SQL Servers and designing and implementing a SaaS data warehouse, mart, and Web front end. In 2007, they joined Avenity, Inc. as a Project Manager and Network Manager, where they implemented four virtual servers to accelerate product development and coordinated twelve employees. In 2008, they moved to Chelone Enterprises as the Director of Operations and directed a budget of $550,000 through the completion of a 63' sailing catamaran. Thomas also created a new SQL expense/inventory tracking system that reduced purchasing costs by 12%. Finally, in 2022, they joined Suki as a Senior Staff Engineer.

Thomas Rota attended University of California, Riverside from 1990 to 1994. Thomas also attended Pinewood High School. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications, including Running Apache Cassandra on Kubernetes from DataStax in March 2021, Apache Cassandra 3 Administrator Associate Certification from DataStax in November 2020, Apache Cassandra Developer Associate Certification from DataStax in October 2020, Certified Kubernetes Administrator from CNCF [Cloud Native Computing Foundation] in December 2021, and Certified Kubernetes Application Developer from CNCF [Cloud Native Computing Foundation] in December 2021.
