Rob Smith

Sr. Manager Operational Excellence And HSE at Summit Nanotech

Rob Smith has over 20 years of experience in the field of health and safety. Rob began their career in 1993 as the owner of Remote Medical Service. In 1999, they became the owner of Remote Safety Service, providing specialized search and rescue services to remote industrial operations. From 2001 to 2008, they served as a COR Auditor and Sessional Instructor for Enform. In 2008, they became the HSE Manager for Eagle Canada. From 2014 to 2015, they were the QHSE Manager for Geokinetics Exploration Canada. In 2020, they were the Health Safety Environment Advisor for Suncor. In 2021, they were the Health and Safety Lead for Trans Mountain. Currently, they are the Sr. Manager HSE and Operational Excellence for Summit Nanotech.

Rob Smith has an extensive educational background. Rob obtained a Dual Degree- B.A. Geography & Honors Bachelor Outdoor Recreation from Lakehead University in 1985-1989. Rob also obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Geography from the same institution. In 1990-1991, they obtained an E.M.T. - A in Prehospital Care from Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT). Rob is currently pursuing a Master of Arts - MA in Disaster and Emergency Management from Royal Roads University, with an estimated graduation date of January 1, 2020. Rob also has several certifications, including Indigenous Canada from the University of Alberta (obtained in September 2020), COR Auditor (Certificate of Recognition -External) from Alberta Association of Safety Partherships (obtained in October 2014), Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) from Board of Canadian Registered Safety Professionals (obtained in July 2011), COR Auditor (Certificate of Recognition -External) from Energy Safety Canada (obtained in November 1996), and NCSO -National Construction Safety Officer from Alberta Construction Safety Association.
