Doug Swalec

Director of Operations at SummitIG

Doug Swalec has a diverse and extensive work experience in the telecommunications industry. Doug started their career as a Facility Locate Technician at Aldridge Electric in 1992. Doug then moved on to MFS Network Technologies, where they worked as a Fiber Design Engineer from 1993 to 1995.

In 1995, Swalec joined MCI and held several roles during their time there. Doug started as a Telecom Technician II and eventually became a Senior Telecom Technician, responsible for leading splicing activity and training employees in fiber splicing and electronic maintenance. Swalec was later promoted to Transmission Systems Operations Manager, where they managed a large fiber optic cable network and worked on optimizing network utilization.

Swalec joined Verizon North Operations in 2005 as a Field Engineer, where they worked on fiber and copper construction and maintenance. In 2007, they joined Panduit as a Senior Fiber Optic Applications Engineer. In this role, they provided support to customers, sales representatives, and engineers, assisting with the design, implementation, and testing of Panduit solutions across various industries.

From 2015 onwards, Swalec worked at Crown Castle in various engineering and managerial roles. Doug started as a Fiber Engineer II, ensuring accurate design and estimation for projects in the Central Region. Doug was then promoted to Sr. Fiber Engineer, Manager of Fiber Engineering, and eventually District Manager of Fiber Engineering, overseeing projects in a wide range of states.

Currently, Swalec is serving as the Director of Operations at SummitIG, starting in 2023.

Doug Swalec attended the Milwaukee School of Engineering from 1988 to 1992, where they obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
