Hugh Garvey has a diverse work experience in the publishing industry. Hugh started their career at Village Voice Media as an Editor and Bar Columnist, where they edited and wrote book reviews. Hugh also co-created and wrote a review column on New York's bars and cocktail lounges. Later, they joined boo.com as the U.S. Editor-in-Chief. After that, they worked as the Culture and Lifestyle Editor at The Industry Standard.
In 2002, Garvey joined Bon Appetit as Deputy Editor, where they edited, produced, and wrote features for the magazine and website. Hugh also covered food news and culture on the West Coast. Hugh eventually became the West Coast Editor of Bon Appetit before leaving in 2012.
Garvey then joined Playboy Enterprises, Inc. as Articles Editor and played a key role in elevating the lifestyle content during a major brand refresh.
