John Barkmeyer

John Barkmeyer is currently a Graduate Intern in Social Work at Sunstone Counseling, a position held since August 2025. Previously, John accumulated extensive legal experience at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Affiliates, serving as Counsel and Associate from October 2012 to August 2025, and as a Summer Associate in 2011. Additionally, a judicial internship was completed with The Hon. Glenn T. Harrell, Jr. at the Court of Appeals of Maryland in 2010. John holds a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from the University of Michigan Law School and is pursuing a Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Michigan with a focus on Interpersonal Practice in Integrated Health, Mental Health, and Substance Abuse. Earlier educational accomplishments include multiple degrees from the University of Maryland: a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Bachelor of Arts in both Theatre and English Language and Literature.
