Gary Coover

Gary Coover has a diverse range of work experience spanning various industries. In 2021, they co-founded SuperLayer, a venture studio focused on web3 consumer startups, where they serve as the Chief Operating Officer. Gary is responsible for driving operational success and serving as interim COO for early-stage web3 projects. Prior to SuperLayer, Gary served as an advisor to FanRally in 2020. From 2017 to 2021, they were a Board of Directors member and co-founder of the Experimental Innovation Arm at Giants Community Fund, where they supported initiatives for underserved youth and their families. Gary also held several roles at Samsung Next, including Ventures Operating MD, Sr. Director of Ops, Director of Ops & Global Expansion, and Sr. Manager of Business Development & Ops. During their time at Samsung Next, they played a key role in expanding the innovation footprint globally and overseeing operations. Additionally, Gary has served as a mentor at KPMG Energise Accelerator and LAUNCH Accelerator, providing guidance to early-stage startups. In 2010, they co-founded Modify Watches and currently offers advisory assistance in business development, strategy, data analytics, and branding. Previously, Gary worked at Samsung Electronics as a Global Strategist and at Creative Artists Agency as a consulting and golf intern. Gary also volunteered as a Kiva Fellow at Kiva.org, working with microfinance organizations in Bali to grant loans to the rural and urban poor.

Gary Coover has a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree in Strategy from the University of California, Berkeley, Haas School of Business, which they obtained from 2008 to 2010. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Economics from Santa Clara University, where they studied from 2000 to 2004. Before their undergraduate studies, Gary attended Catlin Gabel School from 1997 to 2000, but they did not earn a specific degree or have a field of study during that time.
