Buxton Midyette has a range of work experience in various industries. Buxton started their career at the U.S. Department of Labor as an Economist, where they produced indices for import and export transactions in the textile, footwear, and jewelry industries. Following that, they joined the Cotton Council International as a Regional Director for Latin America, where they initiated and managed marketing campaigns to promote U.S. cotton exports to the region. Midyette then worked at Kurt Salmon Associates as a Strategy Consultant, conducting strategy and market evaluation projects for major apparel and retail companies in the U.S., Mexico, and Brazil. Most recently, they served as the VP of Marketing and Promotions at Supima.

Buxton Midyette completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics & Latin American Studies from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between 1983 and 1987. Later, they pursued an MBA degree in Marketing & Finance at The Wharton School, and concurrently earned a Master of Arts degree in International Studies - Latin America from the University of Pennsylvania from 1996 to 1998.
