Scott Wessels has had a varied and successful career in the manufacturing and engineering industry. Scott began their career in 1997 as a Research Technician at the Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center, where they designed and executed experiments involving DNA, microscopy, tissue culture, and instructed interns in the use of specialized equipment and highly sensitive techniques. In 1998, they moved to Rayotek Scientific as a Development Technician, where they designed and implemented unique custom-production techniques and tooling, researched and established efficient production methods, and supervised implementation by manufacturing employees. In 2001, they joined R.D. Instruments as a Manufacturing Engineer, providing engineering support for the manufacture of complex electro-mechanical submersible instrumentation, including process design and refinement, tooling design and manufacture, new product introduction support, capital equipment procurement, and general technical support for all assembly issues in production. In 2008, they were promoted to Manufacturing Engineering Manager at Teledyne RD Instruments, managing the manufacturing and test engineering group in all process and test development for the manufacture of complex electro-mechanical submersible instrumentation. Finally, in 2016 they joined SupplyPro, Inc. as VP of Operations, managing the operations group in the manufacture of electro-mechanical inventory control equipment, directing the supply chain, planning and manufacture of numerous product lines shipping internationally, managing product safety and environmental regulation compliance for domestic and international market spaces, managing the quality and manufacturing engineering team, and being heavily involved in new product introduction and design change management.

Scott Wessels obtained a B.S. in Microbiology from UC San Diego in 1997. In 2003-2004, they earned a Professional Certificate in Lean Enterprise from San Diego State University with a focus on Lean Manufacturing. In 2010, they obtained a Six Sigma Black Belt Certification from the University of California, San Diego, and a Six Sigma Black Belt Certification with a focus on Six Sigma quality improvement techniques. In 2012, they earned a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering from New York University.
