Daniel Thompson, PhD, is a seasoned professional in data science and wave modelling with extensive experience in various roles. Currently serving as a Senior Wave Modeller at Surfline\Wavetrak, Inc. since October 2021, Daniel focuses on developing innovative insights and enhancing product offerings for surfers globally. Prior to this position, Daniel worked as a Research Officer and Data Scientist at Swansea University, contributing to Health Data Research UK by creating advanced analytical tools for addressing critical health challenges. Earlier experience includes a Data Scientist role at Jacobs, where Daniel utilized large datasets to improve flood risk and water service outcomes. Daniel holds a PhD and a Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Swansea University, with expertise in statistics, big data, data modelling, machine learning, and data visualisation.
