Robert Atkinson

Robert Atkinson is a highly experienced professional in the fields of geospatial technology and data integration, currently serving as a Senior Research Engineer at Open Geospatial Consortium since 1998, where involvement includes developing interoperability infrastructures and contributing to key projects like WMS 1.0 and WFS. As Lead Knowledge Architect at Surround Australia, Atkinson is responsible for the SURROUND Ontology Platform, while also providing consultancy as a Consulting Principal at Metalinkage to enhance data integration in spatial data infrastructures. Atkinson’s previous roles span various leadership and consultancy positions in organizations such as CSIRO Land and Water Division and Address Exchange Pty Ltd. With a Master of Science in Computing Science from the University of Wollongong, Atkinson possesses a strong foundation in research and development within the geospatial domain.
