Daniel Chao

Daniel Chao is a physician-scientist and retina specialist currently serving as the Vice President and Head of Clinical Development at Surrozen. They hold a position as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of California, San Francisco, where they teach residents and fellows while seeing patients. With a notable background as an Associate Vice President at ADARx Pharmaceuticals and experiences at various esteemed institutions, including the University of California, San Diego and Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, they have made significant contributions to retinal disease research and innovation. Chao co-founded Visgenx, Inc. and has authored over 50 peer-reviewed publications in the field. They obtained their MD from Stanford University School of Medicine, completing their residency and fellowship in ophthalmology.
