Willem Schipper

Willem Schipper is a highly experienced professional in the chemical industry with a strong focus on innovation and business development. Willem is currently working as the Chief Technology Officer and co-founder at Swan-H, a role they started in February 2022. Prior to that, they worked at SusPhos from January 2020, where they held the position of Business Developer and Innovation Manager.

Before entering the startup world, Schipper owned their own consulting company, Willem Schipper Consulting, starting in 2013. During this time, they provided consultancy services specifically tailored to the chemical industry.

From 2017 to 2021, Schipper worked at Van Citters Beheer BV as the Manager of Chemistry and Waste. In this role, they played a crucial part in the cleanup of the former Thermphos International site, managing the complex and challenging waste streams.

Schipper's career at Thermphos International, which began in 1994, comprised various roles that highlighted their technical expertise and leadership skills. As a Technical Innovation Manager and Senior Chemist, they were responsible for initiating and executing R&D projects, as well as scouting and acquiring external developments in academia. Additionally, they served as a Senior Chemical Engineer, overseeing research for multiple production units.

Willem Schipper completed their education at various institutions. Willem started their educational journey at Stedelijk Gymnasium Utrecht, where they studied from 1978 to 1984. Following this, they pursued a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Chemistry at Utrecht University, which they obtained between 1984 and 1989. Willem then continued at Utrecht University to earn their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Chemistry, which they completed from 1989 to 1993.
