Eric Newman is the Senior Deputy Chief Privacy Officer at Sutter Health, where they lead the privacy function for the Sacramento and Central Valley Divisions. Having started with the organization in 2013, they played a key role in developing a Privacy & Information Security Program that grew from approximately 12 to over 140 members. In previous roles, Eric served as a Privacy Officer for multiple Sutter affiliates, overseeing privacy functions and compliance with state and federal laws. They hold a Doctor of Law from Mitchell Hamline School of Law and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Western Michigan University.
