Ben Murphy-Baum began their work experience in 2011 as a Graduate Student Researcher at OHSU. During this time, they focused on neural biochemistry and x-ray crystallography, but specifically studied retinal circuit function under the supervision of Dr. Rowland Taylor. In 2017, they transitioned to the role of Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Victoria, where they conducted research on signal integration in neurons in the retina and its connection to visual processing. Ben joined Sutter Instrument in 2023 as a Software Engineer.
Ben Murphy-Baum completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biochemistry from Iowa State University, where they studied from 2006 to 2011. Afterward, they pursued further education at Oregon Health & Science University, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Neuroscience between 2011 and 2017.
