Cody Smith

Cody Smith is a Mechanical Design Engineer at Svante since August 2019, with prior experience as a Mechanical Engineering Intern at Etalim Inc. and a Co-op Mechanical Engineer at New Leaf Management. At Etalim Inc., Cody designed a custom workstation for assembling and testing pressure vessels, focusing on structural calculations, FEA, and CAD modeling. During the co-op role at New Leaf Management, Cody developed a prototype of an auto-rotating wind power generation device, utilizing aerodynamic research and performing machining tasks. Additionally, as Mechanical Team Lead for UBC Sailbot, Cody contributed over 1700 hours to the development of a sailing robot, overseeing mold construction and on-water testing. Cody began in landscaping, where strong organizational skills and client communication were honed. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering from The University of British Columbia, along with studies at the University of Saskatchewan and Brigham Young University.
