Svitlo Education is a UK-registered charity with the mission to empower the next generation of Ukrainians to become globally minded citizens and future social and political leaders.

We pursue this mission through Svitlo School, a free online extracurricular school that provides Ukrainian children with access to high-quality education, mentorship, and a supportive international community.

Svitlo School was founded in March 2022 in response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, at a time when millions of Ukrainian children suddenly lost access to stable schooling. During the most difficult early months of the war, Svitlo’s volunteer teachers organised online lessons to give children a sense of normality, safety, and hope. The programme helped students stay engaged with learning, improve their English language skills, and connect with peers and mentors around the world.

The name “Svitlo” means “light” in Ukrainian, reflecting the organisation’s goal to bring opportunity, knowledge, and optimism to young people during dark times.

Today, Svitlo School has grown into a vibrant international learning community. Our students participate in live online classes, workshops, and mentoring sessions delivered by volunteers and educators from leading universities, schools, and organisations worldwide. The curriculum focuses not only on English language development but also on critical thinking, leadership, global citizenship, and exposure to international academic opportunities.

Svitlo Education works closely with schools, universities, and educational organisations in the United Kingdom and internationally to expand opportunities for Ukrainian youth. Through these partnerships, we connect students with inspiring speakers, academic pathways, and a global network of mentors who support their personal and intellectual growth.
