Bert Bruggeman is a seasoned leader with extensive experience in technology and innovation across various industries. Currently serving as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board at The Ocean Cleanup since 2020, Bert is focused on developing technologies to address oceanic plastic pollution. Concurrently, Bert holds the position of Chief Commercial Officer at Torramics Inc., revolutionizing drug delivery with nanoscale pumps. As the founder of GEFIRA Solutions, Bert drives innovation and commercialization of disruptive ideas while offering leadership coaching and advisory services. Previously, as the Chief Executive Officer of Biomason from 2020 to 2024, Bert led efforts towards sustainable construction practices. Bert has also held prominent roles at Tesla, Santa Clara University, Avogy, SVTC Technologies, and SunEdison, contributing to advancements in sustainable energy and power electronics. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from KU Leuven, along with recent studies at Brown University School of Professional Studies.
