SwabTech Ltd is a UK registered medical device company that has spun out of the UK NHS to develop, evaluate and commercialise an automatic swab washing device to support the use of Intra-Operative Cell Salvage within operating theatres.SwabTech are developing an automated Surgical Swab Washer to enhance blood recovery and reuse during high bloodloss surgical procedures. SwabTech's patented Surgical Swab-Washer automates a process currently performed by hand, recovering blood from swabs used in the hospital operating theatre. This blood can then be processed and transfused back into the patient, an established procedure used in a wide range of operations associated with high blood loss, and is known to be a cost-effective means to improve clinical outcomes.
