Tim de Groot

Tim de Groot is a legal counsel with extensive experience in the financial technology sector, currently serving at Swap since June 2025. Previously, Tim worked at Juni from December 2021 to February 2025, leading EMI license applications in the UK and supporting applications in Sweden and Denmark while navigating various EU regulations such as PSD2, EMD, and GDPR. Prior roles include legal counsel at Payconiq, where Tim negotiated agreements with major banks in the Benelux region and established a stichting to safeguard client funds, as well as a brief tenure at Rabobank and internships at Bird & Bird and DLA Piper. Tim holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Information Law from the University of Amsterdam and a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from the same institution.
