Sweat Equity Foundation is a Tampa Bay-based nonprofit expanding access to boutique fitness and wellness spaces for people who have historically been left out of them.

We believe belonging should not have a price tag. Through local studio and gym partnerships, SEF fully funds real memberships - not just drop-ins, free-class days, or one-time access - for scholarship recipients who need a door opened, not a handout. SEF is especially focused on expanding access for people of color who have been traditionally left out of these spaces.

Our model is built around dignity, discretion, and belonging. Scholarship recipients apply through a structured process focused on financial, cultural, or caregiving barriers. Once accepted, they become full members of their studio community, the same as anyone else who attends. Their scholarship status remains confidential, with no labels or stigma.

By removing cost as a barrier and partnering with studios aligned around dignity, inclusion, and psychological safety, SEF is widening doors that too often feel closed. Our belief is simple: access to movement, recovery, community, and care should not be limited to people who can afford premium experiences. Boutique fitness can be powerful, but only if more people can walk through the door and feel like they belong there. 

Proudly based in Tampa Bay, Florida, SEF is a national 501(c)(3) charitable organization with eyes on a nation of movers, shakers, and solution makers in the fitness and wellness space. Stay tuned as we expand our chapters to other cities in 2027 and beyond.
