Bernard Carless

Bernard Carless is a banking professional with over 40 years of experience in branch banking, credit management, relationship management, sales, and operations. They previously held leadership roles including Corporate Manager at FNB Corporate; Regional Director at FNB Medium Corporate; Head of Operations at FNB Africa; Head of Settlement and SWIFT; and Head of Payment Market Infrastructures at FirstRand Bank, and they served as a non-executive director of FNB Swaziland and FNB Lesotho. Since 2018, they have been a board member of SWIFT. In education, they are pursuing a Strategic Leader Diploma at the Graduate Institute of Management and Technology, a Chartered Associate designation with the Insitute of Bankers, South Africa, and an Advanced Leadership Programme at Wits Business School. They earned a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Wiwatersrand, Johannesburg (1987 - 1989).
