Jerome Piens

Jerome Piens is Chief Operations Officer at Swift, appointed in August 2025. He leads the Core Operations group, ensuring the reliability and excellence of Swift’s core services for the global financial community. Jerome’s focus is on operational resilience, customer experience and proactive incident management.

Previously, as Chief Product Officer, Jerome oversaw the delivery of innovative solutions to banking, securities, and corporate clients. Notably, he led the successful delivery of Swift’s Transaction Manager, enabling seamless orchestration of financial transactions across institutions and drove the ISO 20022 migration, modernising messaging standards for improved data quality and interoperability.

Earlier roles at Swift include Head of Transaction Management, Head of Platform Services, and Programme Manager for Swift’s contribution to Australia’s NPP instant payments.

Jerome joined Swift in 2002 after doing research in cryptography at the University of Louvain-la-Neuve.

He holds a Master’s in Applied Mathematics Engineering and a Master’s in Management from Louvain.
