Gavin Uttley

Gavin Uttley has been working in the software engineering industry since 1997. Gavin'sfirst role was as a Junior Software Engineer at Action Data Systems. Gavin then moved to ERG in 2000, where they were initially taken on as a contractor to manually fix corrupt binary fare data from automated bus ticketing machines. Gavin then automated the fixing process, resulting in a cost saving of over £50,000 with an ongoing cost saving of around £100,000/pa. This resulted in him being offered a full-time position on the UK development team. In 2004, they moved to Chubb Fire & Security as a Software Team Leader, where they developed the next generation of software for control and command of CCTV of the Highways Agency. Gavin then moved to Lenel Systems International in 2007, where they worked as a Senior Software Engineer within the Custom Solutions group. Gavin then moved to Traka ASSA ABLOY in 2013, first as a Lead Software Architect and then as an Integration Development Manager. Most recently, they moved to SwiftConnect in 2023 as a Senior Software Engineer.

Gavin Uttley attended Thirsk from 1993 to 1996. Gavin then attended York College from 1996 to 1998, studying Mechanical Engineering. In 2005, they enrolled in The Open University to pursue a degree in Computer Science.
