Gregory Knauf

Founding Scientist, Synthetic Biology at Switch Bioworks

Gregory Knauf is a scientist with expertise in synthetic biology and microbiology. Currently serving as Scientist II at Switch Bioworks since June 2022, Gregory focuses on developing nitrogen fertilizers using bacteria and contributes to various biofertilizer projects aimed at performance enhancement, commercialization, and formulation. Previously, Gregory worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at The University of Texas at Austin from August 2016 to June 2022, where research centered on synthetic biology solutions for antibiotic resistance. Earlier roles include an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Davies Lab and Head Lab Technician at Muenster Milling Co., Inc. Gregory holds a PhD in Microbiology and a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and Immunology, both from The University of Texas at Austin.
