Mark Lakewood started their work experience in 2007 as a 1st AD at Uneven Ground, where they were responsible for handling workflow issues and coordinating between different departments. Mark then joined IBM in 2008 as a Software Engineer, working on z/OS mainframes and performing customer training. In 2010, they co-founded a company called In The Background. From 2011 to 2013, Mark worked as a Senior Developer at SignIQ, rebuilding their ticket distribution system and backend administration system. In 2013, they joined Twilio Inc. as a Senior Software Engineer, where they supported the Phone Number inventory system and implemented a caching layer. Mark then took on various roles at Twilio, including Tech Lead - Platform Access, Principal Engineer, and Architect. Their responsibilities ranged from transforming teams into software delivery teams to executing architectural shifts in Twilio's infrastructure. Mark's most recent work experience is as a Software Engineer at SwitchDin, starting in 2023.

Mark Lakewood attended Murdoch University from 2004 to 2007. During this time, they pursued a degree in Science with a focus on Computer Science.
