Radical technologies require radical solutions. Svelte, the revolutionary framework that brings reactivity to JavaScript, has quickly become a major contender in the frontend space with 89% developer satisfaction on the 2020 State of JS survey.

Svelte’s rise in popularity has coincided with increasing interest from developers, but no tools previously existed to quickly prototype Svelte applications. Developers who want to get started in Svelte lack the tools to efficiently get off the ground and create basic applications.
Until now. Enter Sylph: the Svelte Prototyper.

Sylph (currently in beta) is an open-source desktop application written in Electron, TypeScript, and Svelte and available for Mac and Windows operating systems. Like its namesake, Sylph prioritizes elegance and ease, featuring an uncomplicated drag-and-drop interface that allows a developer with limited to no experience in Svelte to drag components into a sandbox and generate a ready-to-use Svelte project — not just code snippets, but the entire project itself. Sylph projects can be saved locally and loaded again for future edits or emailed to other developers for easy collaboration.

In launching Sylph, our team hopes to contribute to the Svelte ecosystem through creating tooling that makes Svelte more accessible to new developers. We are passionate about open source, new frontend technologies, and performant UI and look forward to sharing Sylph with the community.
