Tom Murrell

Tom Murrell is a Design Manager at Symal Group since October 2021, overseeing multi-disciplinary design within the Temporary Works team for the Eastern Freeway Burke to Tram Alliance. Previously, Tom held multiple engineering roles at Cassaform from December 2015 to November 2021, including Senior Structural Engineer (Temporary Works) and Design Engineer, where engagement with tier 2 and 3 builders and sub-contractors provided temporary works advice focused on safety, schedules, and budgets. Earlier experience at Form700 included an engineering position emphasizing complex concrete structure design and site inspections across high-rise projects, along with a project coordinator role that enhanced communication and teamwork skills in the high-rise construction sector. Tom served as a Rifleman in the Australian Army from February 2008 to July 2014, participating in operations in Timor Leste and completing military leadership courses. Tom holds a Master’s Degree in Engineering (Structures & Forensics) from RMIT University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from La Trobe University.
