Contract Automation Engineer at Symation

Tom Hawkins has a long history of work experience in engineering and automation. Tom started their career in 1996 as an Electronic Engineer at Sola Optical, where they designed hardware and software for optical measurement equipment and lens production automation. Tom received a patent for a lens marking device during this time. In 2005, they became the Engineering Manager at Spatialight Microdisplays, Inc. where they managed the engineering group for development and production of Liquid Crystal On Silicon (LCOS) display assemblies. Tom also designed driver electronics PCBs and firmware as well as test systems. In 2007, they started working as a Communication & Control Engineer at SPG Solar/Thompson Technology Industries Inc. Tom then worked as a Consulting Electronic Engineer at Sun Synchrony in 2014. From 2014-2017, they worked as a Design/Development/Consulting Engineer for a variety of contract jobs. Finally, in 2018, they began working as a Contract Automation Engineer at SYMATION, INC.

Tom Hawkins obtained a BA in Physics from the College of the Holy Cross. Tom then pursued graduate studies in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Johns Hopkins University. In 1975, they attended Worcester Polytechnic Institute for Electrical Engineering until 1977. In 2013, they obtained a Quantum Mechanics and Quantum Computation certification from edX. In 2005, they obtained a Linux Professional Certificate Level 1 from the Linux Professional Institute.
