Bunny Yiu

Bunny Yiu has a diverse work experience spanning different roles and companies. Starting in 2005, Bunny served as a Research Assistant in the Vocational Training Council, where they worked on various research and development tasks, including developing Location Based Systems and an information system for container transport management.

In 2007, Bunny worked as a Student Helper at City University of Hong Kong, where they served as a Tutorial Tutor for a Java & Web Development Course. Their responsibilities included presenting tutorial materials, preparing tutorial solutions, performing tutorial demonstrations, and providing guidance to other senior students.

From 2008 to 2010, Bunny worked as an Analyst Programmer at Chubb Hong Kong Limited, where they integrated a Quotation & Order Management System with an ERP system.

From 2010 to 2016, Bunny worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Cluster Technology Limited. They served as a technical lead and core developer in different projects, with notable achievements including integrating Docker into the company's private IaaS platform for High Performance Computing.

From 2016 to 2018, Bunny worked as a Solution Architect at LKKHPG, where they drove engineering excellence by adopting best practices in API design, coding style, CICD, and cloud-native architecture. They also improved features lead time, system availability, services response time, deployment downtime, and cloud hosting cost. Additionally, Bunny introduced, researched, set up, and managed IaaS/PaaS platforms for developer self-service.

Currently, Bunny works at Symphony as a Lead Site Reliability Engineer, starting in 2018. Their responsibilities include managing multi-region multi-cloud large-scale cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP. They also design and implement terraform IAC modules and APIs for configuration management.

Throughout their career, Bunny has received awards and demonstrated expertise in various technologies and tools, including Kubernetes, ECS, Helm, Docker, Terraform, ansible, packer, AWS, GCP, Lambda, saltstack, tomcat, nginx, cloudera cdh, hbase, solr, ELK, splunk, datadog, spinnaker, and Jenkins.

Bunny Yiu completed a Master's Degree in Computer Science from The Chinese University of Hong Kong between 2013 and 2015. Prior to that, from 2006 to 2008, Bunny Yiu obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Studies from City University of Hong Kong. In 2002 to 2005, Bunny Yiu pursued a Higher Diploma in Computer System Administration from The Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (Tsing Yi).

Additionally, Bunny Yiu has obtained several certifications: "Architecting with Google Kubernetes Engine Specialization," "Reliable Google Cloud Infrastructure: Design and Process," "Developing a Google SRE Culture," "Essential Google Cloud Infrastructure: Foundation," "Google Cloud Fundamentals: Core Infrastructure," "Professional Scrum Master 1 (PSM 1)," and "AWS Certified Solutions Architect - Associate (SAA)." These certifications were obtained in different years, with the latest being in 2022 for the Google Cloud certifications and in 2019 for the AWS certification.
