Lead UX Designer at Symplast

Scott Leapman has worked in the UX/UI design industry since 1993. Scott began their career at IBM as a Human Factors Engineer and Information Developer, where they designed and tested graphical user interfaces for Personal Digital Assistants, Pen-based operating systems, and Interactive Television environments. Scott then moved to Gateway in 1999 as an LCD TV Engineer and Senior Human Factors Engineer, where they were responsible for the design and development of various sizes and styles of LCD digital television sets and ensuring the usability of various add-on products. In 2004, they joined Dell as a Senior Experience Designer, where they were responsible for the entire development cycle, including needs and tasks analysis, persona creation, UI wire-framing, prototyping, usability studies and specifications documentation. In 2009, they joined Partech International as a Senior User Experience Designer. Finally, in 2018, they joined Symplast as Lead UX Designer, where they conducted user research, performed task analysis, crafted user personas, mapped journeys, constructed and evaluated wireframes and prototypes and supervised the implementation of UX designs into real code.

Scott Leapman obtained a BSEE in Electrical Engineering and Cognitive Psychology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute between 1986 and 1991. Scott also holds certifications from LinkedIn for User Experience Insights with Chris Nodder (obtained in October 2016), The Braintrust Consulting Group for Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) (obtained in June 2013), and from ServSafe Food Protection Manager Instructor for ServSafe Food Protection Manager (obtained in April 2013).
