Tom Richards

Tom Richards has over 30 years of work experience in various roles. Tom is currently working as a Principal Solutions Architect at symplr since 2023. In this role, they are responsible for technology, strategy, vision, and implementation for the Symplyr Connected Enterprise platform architecture. Prior to this, they worked at Amazon Web Services (AWS) as a Senior Partner Solutions Architect, Healthcare and Life Sciences from 2019 to 2023. Their responsibilities at AWS included supporting healthcare and life sciences partners on their AWS Partner Network journey and designing reference architectures with Partners. Before AWS, Tom worked at IBM for almost 20 years. Tom held roles such as Senior Certified Executive IT Architect, Senior Certified Executive IT Architect at IBM Watson Health Cloud Transformation Center of Competency, and Certified IT Integration Architect at IBM Smarter Cities Services/Smarter Planet. Tom also worked as a Consulting IT Architect at IBM Industry Solutions & Architecture, Software Group. Prior to working at IBM, they had experience as a Solutions Architect for E-Business at Xerox, Lead Software Engineer at Wink Communications, and IT Consultant at Computing Technology Services. Tom also worked as a Technical Systems Administrator at Anr Pipeline.

Tom Richards holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Michigan Technological University. Tom has obtained several certifications, including AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional and AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate from Amazon Web Services (AWS). Additionally, they have certifications from IBM, including Architect Profession Certification - Level 3 Thought Leader and Enterprise Design Thinking Practitioner. Tom also holds a Professional Certification: Level 3 - Distinguished Certified Architect from The Open Group.
