Larry Heck is a Professor with a joint appointment in Electrical and Computer Engineering and Interactive Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where they hold the Rhesa S. Farmer Advanced Computing Concepts Chair. They served as CEO of Viv Labs and Senior Vice President at Samsung from 2017 to 2021, leading Bixby in North America. Larry was also a Principal Scientist at Google, where they led an advanced dialogue effort, and a Chief Scientist at Microsoft, contributing to the development of the Cortana personal assistant. With over 50 patents and numerous publications, they have made significant contributions to conversational AI, machine learning, and speech recognition throughout their career. Larry received a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech and is a fellow of the IEEE and the National Academy of Inventors.
