Derek Solven

Derek Solven is an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in system architecture and design, currently serving as the Director of System Architecture at Synaptics Incorporated since September 2011. With a strong background in capacitive touch-panel ASIC research and development, Derek has held several key roles at Synaptics, including Principal System Architect and Sr Staff System Architect. Prior to this, Derek contributed to the development of Blackberry user interface technologies at Research In Motion as an Electronics Designer and worked as an Electrical Engineering Consultant at Diamond/Seag-Glaze Mfg. Ltd. Additionally, Derek gained research experience at Simon Fraser University's Biomechanics lab as a Research Assistant. Derek holds a BASc in Systems Engineering from Simon Fraser University, completed in 2009.
