John Craighead

They are the Chief Executive Officer of Syntax Bio, a preclinical-stage biotech company focused on stem cell differentiation, and bring over 20 years of biotechnology and financial services experience. They previously served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer at HALO Precision Diagnostics (2023–2024) and as CFO and head of Corporate Development at Elpiscience Biopharmaceuticals (2022), with leadership roles at GRAIL and at Sanofi, Atara Biotherapeutics, Lehman Brothers, Human Genome Sciences and BIO. They earned a Ph.D. in cell biology from The Scripps Research Institute and hold a B.A. in chemistry and molecular biology from St. Olaf College, and were a National Science Foundation Fellowship recipient. They have authored numerous academic publications in the fields of eukaryotic transcription regulation and clinical development economics.
