Ryan Nuijen has a wealth of work experience, starting in 2000 as a First Mate for Paragon Sailing Charters. In 2003, they founded Hawaii Trader, an online marketplace that offered free basic classifieds as well as image listings for a small fee. In 2005, they became a Dive Master and Marine Naturalist for Friendly Charters, providing a safe and responsible diving program for an eco tour operator. In 2006, they became the Owner, Photographer and Videographer for Ocean Ikon, a photography and video production company specializing in sports and underwater subjects. In 2009, they developed an application for the Bycatch and Protected Species Interaction Program (BPSIP) for Pacific Marine Consultants. From 2011 to 2014, they worked as a Photographer and Developer for Ryan Nuijen Fotografie & Web Development, providing commercial photography, image editing and retouch services for corporate clients as well as small business web development. From 2014 to 2019, they were the Founder and Developer of Moveboost, a social video platform and community for people who love outdoor sports. Ryan pitched to Angels, VCs and some of the most influential athletes. Since 2021, they have been a Senior Frontend Engineer for syrup.tech.

Ryan Nuijen attended the University of Amsterdam from 1996 to 1996, where they studied Biology/Biological Sciences, General. In 2004, they obtained a United States Coast Guard 100GT Master Captain with Sailing & Towing Endorsements from Southern California Merchant Marine Training Services. Additionally, they have certifications from PADI as a Dive Master and an Enriched Air Diver.
