John Passanante leads Syska Hennessy Group’s fast-growing Western region, encompassing more than 115 professionals across five offices. He holds a BE in mechanical engineering from The State University of New York at Stony Brook, is a licensed professional engineer, and a registered communications distribution designer (RCDD).
John ensures the highest level of technical excellence, project delivery, client focus, efficient operations, and collaboration among project teams and across offices. He oversees all Western region projects in operations for all our practice areas, including built environments, healthcare, aviation, critical facilities, information, communications technology (ICT), and commissioning.
John began his career with Syska New York in 1997 and relocated to the West Coast in 2014. During his tenure in New York, he led the firm’s ICT and commissioning and facilities management global practice areas. Under John’s leadership, each practice experienced year-over-year growth and increased market share, driven by technical excellence, exceptional client service and operational efficiency. He developed technical benchmarks and project management approaches that have been adopted throughout the Syska organization and that have helped position the firm as a recognized industry standard setter. Recently, John’s collaborations with the West Coast team include projects for In 2019, John completed training for Center for Creative leadership and by 2021 he plans to finish his training for FMI Executive Advisory.
In addition, John is a member of the Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI), 7×24 Exchange International, Lean Construction Institute (LCI), Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA), Downtown San Diego Partnership, Project Management Institute (PMI), and American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS). John is also a board member of the ACE Mentor Program of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Business Council, and ACEC California. Outside of work, John is the Vice President of Poinsettia Heights HOA and a member of Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
